Program Description

In this one-hour professional development webinar, school counselors will build a complete framework for designing effective short-term individual counseling plans. Grounded in CBT and SFBC evidence and the current literature on brief interventions for youth, participants will learn how to structure intentional 6-8 session counseling plans that move beyond "seeing students until things get better" and toward purposeful, measurable intervention.

The session walks participants through each stage of a structured counseling plan, including case conceptualization, collaborative SMART goal development, session-by-session planning, progress monitoring, and intentional closure. School counselors will leave with a practical framework they can immediately apply to individual counseling cases across a variety of presenting concerns.

Learning Objectives

  • Develop a brief case conceptualization using the Four-P framework.

  • Write two SMART counseling goals directly linked to the primary intervention target and measurable within 6-8 sessions.

  • Design a session-by-session arc across five clinical phases: Assessment, Psychoeducation/Goal-Setting, Skill Introduction, Application/Generalization, and Closure.
